Country Gate Players Presents:

Two Pocono area men will spar as the principal characters
in the Country Gate Players’ next production, Deathtrap.
Performances will be staged September 13, 20, and 27, at 8:00 p.m., as well as
September 28, at 2:00 p.m. The show will be performed at the
Country Gate Playhouse, 114 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, New Jersey.
What seems to be is never what really is in this masterfully written
comedy-thriller by Ira Levin.
Sydney Bruhl, played by Wayne Dotter, of Marshall's Creek, is a
once celebrated author of Broadway thrillers. But for the past several years
Bruhl has suffered from a severe case of writer's block. Awaiting inspiration,
he receives a brilliant script from one of his former writing students,
Clifford Anderson, played by Steve Mazza, of Stroudsburg.
With the help of his wife, Myra, portrayed by Juliet Dunham, of Pocono Pines,
Bruhl plots to murder his protégé and market the young man's sure-fire
thriller as his own. But what at first seems like the perfect plot soon begins
to bend, spiral, and spin totally out of control.
Other cast members include: Brenda Kull of Oxford, as Helga Ten Dorp, the emotional
Dutch psychic who lives next door; and John Musarra of Belvidere, as Porter Milgram,
Sydney's over-the-top lawyer.
The show is under the direction of Gina Scurato of Harmony Township.
Deathtrap has the distinction of being the longest running thriller
in Broadway history.
